Some Top Tips for Small Businesses

  • If your rateable is less than £15,000 talk to your Local Authority about Small Business Rate Relief and Hardship Relief
  • If you are the only store / post office / pub or petrol filling station in a small rural settlement, talk to your Local Authority about Rural Rate Relief
  • If you are worried about paying your tax, National Insurance, VAT or PAYE, talk to the Revenue (HMRC) about spreading the payments
  • Invoice promptly and make payments terms clear – chase!
  • Ask for advice sooner rather than later
