Jobseekers Allowance (contribution-based)

This is an income replacement benefit (see Introduction) for people of working age (16-pension age) who are working less than 16 hours per week and who are available for and actively seeking work.

If the client is working less than 16 hours per week, the earnings reduce the amount of benefit pound for pound after the first £5 (first £20 in some rare cases).

Jobseekers Allowance (contribution based) is paid for a period of up to 26 weeks.

Jobseekers Allowance (contribution based) cannot be paid at the same time and to the same person as any other income replacement benefit.
