New capital limits for claimants of Pension Credit and pension age claimants of Housing and Council Tax Benefit
New regulations come into force on 2nd November 2009. The Social Security (Deemed Income from Capital) Regulations 2009 increases the current lower capital limit of £6,000 to £10,000.
As a result of this change, some older people will become newly eligible for Pension Credit and Housing and Council Tax benefits. People who think they may be affected should contact The Pensions service or telephone Care Direct at Devon County Council or contact their local CAB.
