Contributory, Non-means tested Benefits
Circumstances Box A
All these benefits, except the Bereavement Payment, are designed to replace lost income.
A person cannot get more than one income replacement benefit at a time - if you meet the conditions for more than one, you get whichever is paid at a higher rate.
Because these benefits are non-means-tested, any savings or capital does not affect entitlement. Income, however, may affect entitlement.
To get contributory benefits, you (or, in the case of Bereavement Benefits only, your late spouse or civil partner) must have paid sufficient national insurance contributions.
