(a) The client has been working and has paid national insurance contributions for more than one year and is:

  • unemployed and seeking work
  • too ill to work
  • over pension age

    • (b) The client's spouse or civil partner worked and paid national insurance contributions and has died.

    These are Contributory and Non-means-tested Benefits

    Which Circumstances Box C

    Whether or not the client comes into any of the previous categories, s/he may still be entitled to

  • means-tested benefit and/or
  • tax credits

    • These are Means-tested Benefits & Tax Credits
