Non - contributory, Non-means-tested Benefits

Which Circumstances Box B

Some of these benefits are designed to replace lost income. You cannot get more than one income replacement benefit at a time - if you meet the conditions for more than one, you get whichever is paid at a higher rate.

Some of these benefits are designed to meet certain extra costs, like the cost of care or of bringing up children. Others are to compensate for a job-related illness or disability. Extra costs and job-related benefits can be paid together with other benefits.

In addition to these benefits, there are War Pensions to which some people may be entitled. For more information, contact the Royal British Legion (08457 725 725) or the Veterans Agency (0800 169 22 77).

Because all these benefits are non-means-tested, any savings or capital does not affect entitlement. Income, however, may affect entitlement to the income replacement benefits.
