Welfare Benefits Training
Devon Welfare Rights Unit provides a programme of training courses on benefits and tax credits.
Places on these courses are open to advisors working in statutory and not-for-profit sectors and the commercial sector whose clients are resident in the Devon County Council area. Spare places on courses can be offered to staff outside the Devon County Council area. Please contact if you wish to know more.
Raise awareness of the benefits available through the social security and tax credits system.
Enable advisers who currently provide benefits and tax credits advice to develop their knowledge and skills and make appropriate referrals.
Increase inter-agency co-operation and appropriate referrals by raising awareness of the role in advice work of the various agencies represented.
We particularly welcome representatives of Devon's black and ethnic communities.
The courses are a mixture of information supplied by the tutor, practical case studies and general discussion and we hope to encourage as much participation as possible.
Our courses are accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and carry Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points. Should you wish to apply for this please contact Llinos Davies on 01392 223827.
If this is your first course with DWRU please book onto a Level 1 Benefits Signposting to begin.
See the feedback we have recieved from delegates.
If you would like to see how we did last year please read our annual report.
