AGENCY REFERRALS

If you are working with a person aged 18 to 60 who provides care for a sick or disabled person and lives in Teignbridge, or North Devon District Council area, or Exeter City Council area, then don't let them miss out on a free benefit check and assistance to claim what they are entitled to: make a referral to The Working Age Carers Income Maximisation Project.

This is a home visit service. Once the client is referred by you to the project they will receive a call from a caseworker in their area within 10 working days. First there will be a diagnostic call and then as required visits to complete claim forms, further explain any social security or tax credit options available and/or assistance with challenging decisions, including tribunal representation.

TO MAKE A REFERRAL:

  1. Ensure you have the consent of your client to pass on their information to the project, which is run by the Citizens Advice Service.
  2. Let them know that they should receive a phone call from a project caseworker within 10 working days of receipt of your referral.
  3. Make the referral either by

    • Phone: WAC phone number: 0300 5000 929
      Contact name: Angela O'Brien / Leave a message with referral information.
  4. Your referral must include:
    • Your name and the name of the organisation you work for
    • Your client's name
    • Your client's phone number
    • Your client's address (this is in case we can not contact them by phone; after 3 attempts we will write to them)
    • Any additional information you think may be helpful.

PLEASE NOTE THIS NUMBER AND E-MAIL ARE FOR AGENCY REFERRALS ONLY. YOUR CLIENT CAN NOT REFFER THEMSELVES VIA THIS ROUTE. CLIENTS WHO WISH TO SELF REFER SHOULD CALL THE VIRTUAL CARERS CENTRE ON 08456 434 435 AND REQUEST A FULL BENEFIT CHECK. (WE WOULD HOWEVER ENCOURAGE YOU TO REFER THEM DIRECT)
